SOZO

What is SOZO?

SOZO is a ministry for inner healing and liberation. The Greek word "SOZO" appears over 100 times in the Bible and is translated as "to save, to heal, and to release." This is what weexpect and experience again and again in a SOZO session. Originating in the late 1990s at Bethel Church in Redding, California, SOZO came to Switzerland in 2011 and, shortly thereafter, to Austria and South Tyrol. Currently, approximately 40 ministries belong to the Bethel SOZO network in the Alpine countries.

If you are concerned about questions like the following, SOZO is a good choice to find answers.

Under the "Locations" menu link , you can find a licensed SOZO service near you. There, you can also contact the responsible staff directly to answer any questions you may have.

"I can't hear God's voice."
"I'm not sure if God really loves me."

What can you expect in a SOZO?

A team of two to three SOZO- trained individuals will guide you through a process that will help you connect with God. This enables healing and release within you, as the Holy Spirit uncovers and neutralizes blockages and causes. This strengthens your relationship with God, which ultimately has a positive impact on your personality.

Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you are invited to ask God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit questions such as:

  • Are there lies that I believe?
  • Do I have wounds that need healing?
  • Which people still need to be forgiven?
  • Do I have unhealthy emotional bonds with certain people?
  • Am I controlled by sinful behavior?

God will respond to you in His incredible love and will want to meet you in these areas. You will go home richly gifted with truths from Him!

Experiences and adventures

Here are a few excerpts from experiences of how people experienced the effects of a  SOZO  . You'll find out if you'll experience something similar by simply trying it out. These voices are meant to encourage you.

"I needed glasses for years because I was nearsighted. A few months after the SOZO, I felt like something had fallen off my eyes. After that, I found the glasses annoying and stopped wearing them. That was six months ago. Today I believe that my blurred vision had something to do with the fact that my mind couldn't see, not my eyes. I thank the Lord very much for this healing and look forward to what He has planned for me next."

Origin

In 1997, several healing seminars with Randy Clark were held at Bethel Church in Redding, California. The future founders of SOZO Dawna de Silva and Teresa Liebscher, attended and learned a powerful prayer model from the Argentine revival movement. It helps people cling to their salvation and healing. They began to apply it, develop it further, and supplement it with tools from other deliverance ministries. SOZO was born. The news that people were finding their God-given freedom through SOZO spread like wildfire around the globe.

Dawna De Silva

Dawna De Silva

Dawna De Silva is the founder and co-leader of the International SOZO Healing and Deliverance Ministry, which began at Bethel Church in Redding. Dawna is part of the leadership team of Bethel Church's Transformation Center. She releases new vision and freedom for people, churches, and cities by training pastors and leaders in SOZO , teaching about purpose, and ministering prophetically.

No matter how deep the wounds, Dawna serves with authority and gentleness, bringing hope and healing.

Erna Engelmayr

Teresa Liebscher

Teresa Liebscher
is co-director of the SOZO Ministry and founder and leader of the Shabar Ministry at Bethel Church, which has existed since 2002. She developed a training for this ministry, which she offers in conjunction with the SOZO training. She has been involved with SOZO since 1997 and has been traveling to give SOZO seminars since 1998. Like Dawna, she is on the leadership team of the Transformation Center at Bethel Church in Redding.
She has a growing passion to reconnect the Body of Christ with the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

In 2011, the first SOZO seminars were held in Switzerland, with participants including Dawna and Teresa. Gero Herrendorf of the Vineyard Langenthal took over the main leadership of the network in Switzerland. Austria joined in 2015, and South Tyrol a few years later. Kurt Haefeli continued Gero's work after his passing in 2024. The network in the three Alpine countries now includes approximately 50 services.

There are different types of SOZOs:

  • SOZO Basic teaches the biblical foundations of this ministry. It provides us with tools that help us expose the lies in our lives and take steps toward freedom. In doing so, we experience God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit speaking directly to us. The truths given by God bring about profound changes. Our trust in God's love is strengthened and remains lasting.
  • SOZO Advanced goes deeper. We learn from experienced teachers and mentors how to apply additional tools such as Divine Editing, Post-Traumatic Stress Management, Body Work, and more.
  • SOZO for Children is a form of  SOZO  prayer service that is adapted to the child's age and involves parents in the work, depending on their age. Children are guided into a living relationship with God without pressure. In doing so, children learn how to effectively deal with problems, disappointments, failures, or feelings such as fear and anger, and how to discover the causes of blockages and obstacles.
  • Group SOZOtakes the powerful SOZO principles and tools and applies them in group sessions. It combines expressive and experiential group exercises that Dr. Margarete Nagib has developed and expanded over many years in her practice with psychotherapy groups.
  •  SOZO art connects your feelings with the heart of God, bypassing and removing blockages. The truth of God, revealed on the canvas, speaks to your heart with a wonderfully healing depth.
  • ... and there is so much more!
